Dr Kizza Besigye, Uganda’s opposition leader who is facing treason charges, has once again been towed with his car to a police station in the capital Kampala on Monday after a court dismissed another ‘disobeying lawful orders’ case against him.
The former presidential candidate had his car hooked by the police without confrontation while his supporters accompanying him from the court house were cordoned off, local media report.

Ugandan news portal, monitor.co.ug, reported reported that the police peaceful towed Dr Besigye’s car with him in it to a nearby police station where he was allowed to walk freely into the building before he was detained.
The reason for his detention has not yet been disclosed.
Dr Besigye was charged in 2015 together with another member of his party for disobeying lawful orders given by the police after they held a meeting with opposition members ahead of the election.
This is the second ‘disobeying lawful orders’ case against him dismissed this month for lack of evidence, with the previous one withdrawn by the state prosecution at the Kasangati Magistrate’s court on July 1.
Just like the former, Besigye threatened to sue the state for abuse of power and malicious prosecution.
For now, Besigye is only facing treason charges for swearing himself in as president of the country on May 11 and then arrested hours after in a similar manner as today while he was driving around the capital waving at his supporters.
He spent two months in prison until he was granted a $30,000 bail two weeks ago.
